Colombia Handbook Launch

On 27-28 August an international seminar titled “Forum for Peace” was held in Bogota, Colombia, organized by International IDEA and the University for Peace. This activity was co-sponsored by the High Commissioner for Peace; the Ministry of the Interior; the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA); the Pontifical Universidad Javeriana and the University Sergio Arboleda. The weekly magazine “Semana” and the newspaper “El Tiempo” were also supporting this activity.

The “Forum for Peace” was the setting for the launching ceremony of the Spanish Edition of International IDEA’s handbook Democracy and Deep-rooted Conflict: Options for Negotiators. This new edition has not only been translated from the original English edition but also updated and regionalized incorporating Latin American case studies and analyses.

The “Forum for Peace” was inaugurated by Armando Estrada-Villa, Minister of the Interior (Keynote speaker); Bengt Säve-Söderbergh, Secretary-General of International IDEA; Frans van Haren, Vice-Rector of the University for Peace; Rodrigo Noguera-Laborde, Rector of the University Sergio Arlboleda and Javier Sanín, S.J., Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations of the Pontifical Universidad Javeriana.

Lanzamiento de la edición en español del manual "Democracia y Conflictos Profundamente arraigados. Opciones para la Negociación".

El 27 y 28 de agosto próximos se celebrará en Bogotá, Colombia, el seminario internacional "Foro por la Paz" organizado por International IDEA y la Universidad para la Paz. Esta actividad es coauspiciada por el Alto Comisionado para la Paz; el Ministerio el Interior; la Agencia Sueca para el Desarrollo Internacional (ASDI); la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana y la Universidad Sergio Arboleda. Esta actividad cuenta asimismo con el apoyo de la revista Semana y del periódico El Tiempo.

El "Foro por la Paz" será el escenario para el lanzamiento de la edición en español del manual de Inetrnational IDEA "Democracia y Conflictos Profundamente arraigados. Opciones para la Negociación". Esta nueva edición no sólo ha sido traducida de su versión original en inglés sino que ha sido actualizada y "regionalizada" incorporando casos, estdios y experiencias de América Latina.

El "Foro por la Paz" será inaugurado por Camilo Gomez-Alzate, Alto Comisionado para la Paz; Bengt Säve-Söderbergh, Secretario General de International IDEA; Frans van Haren, Vicerector de la Universidad para la Paz; Rodrigo Noguera-Laborde, Rector de la Universidad Sergio Arboleda y Javier Sanín, S.J., Decano de la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Relaciones Internacionales de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. La conferencia de fondo del acto inaugural será impartida por Armando Estrada-Villa, Ministro del Interior de la República de Colombia.
