‘Party Watch’ Debut

Since 20 February 2004, IDEA’s Nigeria Office has been publishing ‘Party Watch’, a weekly update dedicated to improving understanding of issues pertaining to the political party system in Nigeria. It provides information on, and analysis of, party activities and events, as well as policy statements. It focuses attention on the democratic challenges confronting Nigerian political parties in regard to building strong parties, establishing internal democracy, and promoting issue-based politics and the participation of women and youths. The information contained in ‘Party Watch’ comes from the media and party channels.

Party Watch no. 1 (20 February, 2004)
Party Watch no. 2 (27 February, 2004)
Party Watch no. 3 (5 March, 2004)
Party Watch no. 4 (12 March, 2004)

After the local elections, scheduled for 27 March 2004, the frequency of ‘Party Watch’ may vary.
