Andean Region

Progress has been made with FLACSO (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Socia-les)/Ecuador, UNDP/Ecuador and with the CAF (Corporación Andina de Fomento) in order to join efforts to organize a specialist seminar to assess the current conditions, threats to and op-portunities for the democratization process in the Andean Region. The idea is to bring together experts, government officials and civil-society representatives of the five countries in the region - Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia - to discuss the prospects for democracy, both at the subregional and national levels.
