Electoral Networks and Assistance

A cornerstone of International IDEA's mandate is to provide electoral practitioners with an opportunity to meet and share ideas and experiences. Through this project we support a network of Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) of International IDEA's Member States, provide information on electoral technology and respond to specific requests on electoral matters.

The next EMB meeting will be held in June 2001, in conjunction with International IDEA's annual Democracy Forum. These meetings bring together electoral administrators from many nations, along with practitioners and advisers from international organizations. These EMB meetings are an integral part of International IDEA's efforts to build a community of election professionals.

The Partnership for Electoral and Democratic Development (PEDD) involves Elections Canada, International IDEA, IFES, the Instituto Federal Electoral Mexico and the UNEAD. This alliance was launched in April 1999. International IDEA took on the responsibilities of the PEDD secretariat in May 2000 for one year.
